Now that Working in the Smart Zone is complete, I'm back to reading things that I want to read. When I was writing the book, I read other people's books less often. No need to confuse me. So now I have the pleasure of recommending some of the books I picked up once my book went to the printer. Hopefully this will make your own choice of what to read easier.
Engaged Leadership: Building a Culture to Overcome Employee Disengagement by Clint Swindall. This book highlights 12 challenges to create a climate of employee engagement. People in the Smart Zone™ know that employee engagement leads to productivity, profitability and less turnover. Swindall offers ideas to help with that employee who "quits and stays."
How to Improve Your Marriage Without Talking About It by Pat Love and Steven Stosny. These authors point out that love is not about communication. It is about connection. Male emotions are like women's sexuality; you can't be too direct too quickly. Talking makes women move closer; it makes men move away. Finally, men want closer marriages just as much as women do, but not if they have to act like women. Does this get your attention? This is a good book about relationships.
The Secrets of Happily Married Men by Scott Haltzman. Dr. Haltzman is a psychiatrist who takes a different approach offering a positive way of looking at how to build a successful long-lasting relationship from a man's point of view. This book is informative and funny and one that I am recommending to a lot of men. It is not a hard read at all. Haltzman offers 8 proven techniques that he developed from his research and clinical experience. His approach includes:
- Make your marriage your job
- Know your wife
- Be home now
- Expect conflict and deal with it
- Learn to listen
- Aim to please
- Understand the truth about sex
- Celebrate your life
I hope these resources are helpful to you. My new book, Working in the Smart Zone, is now available so don't forget to put it on your reading list. Click here to find out how to get a copy.
